Advantages of Wireless Fire Detection & Alarm Systems
Wireless fire alarm systems, also known as radio fire alarms, have become increasingly popular and very reliable in recent years. At EBFP, these systems are a fundamental part of our installation works.
Compared to traditional conventional or addressable hard-wired fire alarm systems, wireless systems offer several benefits. Instead of being hard wired back to a central location, all components are linked by radio, making it faster, more flexible, and cost-effective to install. This is particularly useful for historic/heritage sites (of which we are appointed to complete regularly) or refurbishments where fabric and decor preservation is a concern.
Designing radio, wire-free systems requires technical expertise in understanding detection and alarm system layouts in relation to fire risk, and matching the radio characteristics of components to the physical structure of the site being protected. However, radio fire system components are fully addressable and offer complete customisation.
Advantages of Wireless Fire Alarm Systems:
- Installation is quick and can be done with minimal disturbance to your business/residents
- No unsightly wires or damage to walls; the only cable is from the control panel to the dedicated spur.
- Easy installation in buildings with limited access, like high ceilings.
The layout can be modified if there are changes in the building, such as extensions. - Reduces labour, repair, and making good expenses.
- Can function during power outages as they operate primary battery power or back power dependant on type of detector
- Suitable for temporary use in areas where wired systems cannot be installed, such as construction sites.
- Already have a hard wired system that needs extending? No problem as wireless can also be used to expand existing wired systems.
Wireless & Radio Systems
Fire Detection Systems
Wireless and radio detection systems are a good choice for listed buildings, heritage sites and where aesthetics are important. They can be installed and removed quickly, making them ideal for temporary solutions. These systems are also a subtle option for worksites, portacabins, and marquees, providing protection without being obtrusive.
